Use a 'Real Money' Practice Account for your Try-it-out Portfolio
|
|
Giving your personal portfolio a try-out
It is a true-to-life portfolio try-out. There is no "play" or "phantom" money in the try-out. Instead, you make affordable investments of $10 to $1,000 in each of your portfolio choices and see, for yourself, how well their early performance lives up to your expectations.
Getting Started
Opening an investing account. After finalizing your portfolio choices, you can open an investing account at our investment dealer affiliate (Canadian ShareOwner Investments Inc.), where it is covered under the Canadian Investor Protection Fund. Our affiliate is also a member of the Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada.
Ordering your portfolio. The course's scheduled buying and selling service is available for ordering purchases of $10 - $1,000 for each of your portfolio choices. Money can be deposited to your account by cheque or electronic funds transfer.
You use your funds to purchase whole and fractional shares (to four decimals) of stock. For example, suppose you decide to make an investment of $10 in one of your stocks that is trading at $35. The purchase would result in 0.2857 shares being deposited to your course account.
Unlimited buying and selling. All course trading through its scheduled buying and selling service is without commission.
Measuring Portfolio Performance
Monthly account statements report your portfolio's performance.
Account Disposition
At the conclusion of your course, you can convert your account to an investing account of your choice (e.g. non-registered account, retirement account, tax-free savings). Alternatively, you can use course trading to liquidate your account, without charge.
Continuing Education
Graduates of the course can continue their access to ShareOwner's data files for companies and to the research team's case studies and discussions at preferential rates.
